Riverdale Park, Maryland – The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (HCDC), through the sponsorship of the Town of Riverdale Park and in collaboration with Verizon and the Maryland State Highway (SHA), are pleased to announce the installation of six artists’ designs on utility and traffic signal cabinets in the Town of Riverdale Park.

Traffic and utility boxes are grey or greenish metal structures located at signalized intersections or near utility service junctions, and are often exposed to graffiti and vandalism. The HCDC Traffic Box Art Wrap Program, was initiated in 2016 as the first in the State of Maryland. The program aims to address community blight and enhance the visual landscape through the application of vinyl art wraps on utility or traffic boxes.

Each wrap features art that is visually appealing, creative and exciting. The artists selected provide a representation of community identity. As of 2021, the HCDC has successfully wrapped 15 traffic or utility boxes in the Town of Riverdale Park and over 65 traffic and utility boxes throughout all of Prince George’s County.

Here is a list of locations for each of the new art wraps in Riverdale Park, including the artwork’s title and artist’s name
