VIEW FULL ANNOUNCEMENT

February 20, 2013 – As a part of its overarching mission to provide valuable resources to the prince George’s arts community,  Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council announces the creation of the Prince George’s Film Office.

The launch is the culmination of an effort that began last summer when the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) hosted a meeting with Jack Gerbes, Executive Director Maryland Film Office, Elizabeth Crittenden, Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation (PGCEDC) , The Creative Edge and Stuart Eisenberg of  Hyattsville CDC. The meeting’s focus was to discuss local film and digital media assets, and collaborations, aimed at attracting film industry jobs and productions to Prince George’s County.

“We want the film office to be the one-stop resource in Prince George’s County, for the film industry nationwide. Our office will provide the necessary logistical services to the industry and bring economic and cultural benefits to the county.”, said PGAHC Executive Director Rhonda Dallas. “Prince George’s County has many wonderful locations and services to offer film makers. Our office looks forward to partnering with their new film office in attracting and assisting film and television productions in our State and in the County.”, added Gerbes.
Prince George’s incredible variety of film locations ranges from American Indian campsites to art deco office buildings. Prince George’s film office works with Maryland Film Office, community partner Creative Edge Studios and others to raise awareness among local professionals and to direct filmmakers to Prince George’s many historic and contemporary sites. These locations are open and available to regional, national and international filmmakers. Production companies interested in shooting in the region have discovered Prince George’s sites are available either free of charge or at favorable rates.
