Researchers Needed: Deed and Chain of Title Researchers for Mapping Racism Project
$16.50 – $20.00 per hour based upon speed and experience

Via its Mapping Racism Program, the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation is conducting the comprehensive deed research necessary to identify, map, and archive the inventory of properties with racially restrictive covenants attached to their deeds within the City of Hyattsville. The project is being conducted in phases. This phase, Phase 1 is comprised of conducting, documenting, and inventorying title searches within databases in preparation of integration with GIS mapping tools.
- Demonstrated experience with deed and title searches or multi-sourced internet-based historical research is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cloud-supported database and information storage platform is required.
- Demonstrated competency with Excel and Google Sheets is required.
- The ability to retrieve, interpret, and employ subdivision plat maps and internet-based GIS mapping platforms (such as PGAtlas.com) to sort and delineate the evolution of property descriptions due to actual transactions and re-subdivision is required.
