The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation will present the Annual Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival along Baltimore Ave. (Route 1) and Jefferson St. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. with the generous support of the following sponsors: in business support Streetsense, Pulte Homes, EYA Homes, Palette at Arts District Apartments; in organization support The City of Hyattsville, M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Maryland State Arts Council, Prince George’s Arts & Humanities Council, ATHA Inc./Maryland Milestones; and in media support East City Art, Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair by Washington City Paper and Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center to date.
Over 70 visual artists and artisans, musicians and dancers will gather and be featured along the neighborhood streets of Arts District Hyattsville, showcasing the talented arts community in Hyattsville and the Gateway Arts District. The town center features anchors such as Busboys and Poets, a regional restaurant and performance venue, and Yes! Organic Market, a regional grocery selling healthful food, supplements and body care products. Enjoy local beer on-site from Franklin’s Restaurant & Brewery, joined with delicious food and drink by Arts District Hyattsville restaurants Busboys and Poets, Chipotle, Elevation Burger, Spice 6, Tara Thai, Yogi Castle and Jimmy Johns.
An exhibitors and performers listing are now online, at https://hyattsvilleartsfestival.com/. The Festival welcomes back children’s arts activities lead by Art Works Studio School and Joe’s Movement Emporium & World Arts Focus, and more.
Guests can stroll Jefferson Street and its adjacent sidewalks along Route 1 to view and purchase original artwork by local Prince George’s County and D.C. area artists. Guests are invited to explore our corridor’s retailers, suppliers, and non-profits by car and on foot, visiting destinations such as new housing at Arts District Hyattsville in the form of row houses by Pulte and EYA Homes, apartments by Palette at Arts District, the Mount Rainier Artists’ Lofts stores, Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center, and the M-NCPPC Brentwood Arts Exchange and artist studios located within the Gateway Arts Center.
