The Gateway Arts District in Prince George’s County was founded in 2001 as a
corridor for artists to affordably live and work and an engine for economic
development. Now, more than a decade later, it is a two-mile arts and
entertainment district that includes the Arts District Hyattsville, Prince George’s
African American Museum and Cultural Center, and the Gateway Arts Center. It
also includes hundreds of artists, galleries, theaters and a calendar full of
performances and events, many within walking distance of one another
