Maybe Franklins is infectious.
Three new arts-related businesses have moved into the Magruder Flatiron building, next door to the upstart restaurant and brewery that became the flagship for the Gateway Arts District when it opened early this year.
Two of the new businesses will celebrate openings this week.
Susie Rhabb, who started a flower and basket arrangement business in her Hyattsville home 10 years ago, will hold a grand opening of The Basket Gourmet Shop at 5101 Baltimore Ave. Saturday.
John Nelson, an Upper Marlboro resident, photographer and artist, will open a new gallery at 5103 Baltimore Ave. Sunday.
A third artistic tenant, local woodworker Barry Wells, will open a showroom at 5113 Baltimore Ave. in late December.
