The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (HyCDC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) as part of its 2026 funding cycle. HyCDC was one of four organizations in the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area to receive funding, contributing to more than $396,000 in grants awarded to Prince George's County organizations.
The grant will support a series of interactive heritage tourism initiatives designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore the Hyattsville, Route 1, and Gateway Arts District area. Planned projects include a Trolley Trail Passport, a pocket-sized map highlighting local attractions, and an interactive Full Picture Games event at the Hyattsville Arts Festival that showcases the unique stories, destinations, public art, and small businesses that make the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area special.
By combining digital and print experiences with firsthand exploration, these initiatives will make it easier for visitors to discover local attractions, support small businesses and arts organizations, and deepen their connection to the community. The project reflects HyCDC's ongoing commitment to celebrating Hyattsville's rich cultural heritage and creating engaging experiences that inspire community pride.
