The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (CDC), through the sponsorship of the Town of Riverdale Park and in collaboration with the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), are pleased to announce the installation of artists’ designs on four (4) traffic signal cabinets in the Town of Riverdale Park.

Traffic signal cabinets, also known as “traffic boxes,” are the grey metal structures located at every signalized intersection that are often vulnerable to graffiti and vandalism. The CDC’s Traffic Box Art Wrap Program, developed as one of the first in the State of Maryland in 2016, aims to eliminate this form of community blight through the installation of vandalism-resistant vinyl art wraps on traffic boxes.

As of 2020, the CDC has successfully wrapped nine (9) traffic boxes in the Town of Riverdale Park and over 45 traffic boxes throughout all of Prince George’s County.

The CDC invites area municipalities, agencies and businesses’ partnership on future iterations of the project throughout the County. Please contact us for more information, and visit the project page below.
